Sesame Street Birthday Party with Elmo

Soleil’s 2nd birthday was almost 4 weeks ago already. One of her favorite shows is Sesame Street and her favorite character is Elmo. Who can blame her? He is so funny and sweet, I wish he was my child. Anyways, we celebrated with a Sesame Street themed bash at our house. Here are a few of the pictures to inspire your own party! Links are provided for some of the stuff I bought on Amazon or Party City. Food

Creating the characters from Sesame Street out of food was so much fun and they turned out so cute. It was really easy and healthy! For the cake I ordered a Publix lemon cake with plain white icing, scraped it all off, dyed it red and a little bit black for the mouth and reapplied the icing. I then bought some fondant and created his eyes and nose. It’s not perfect, but it’s what I wanted and I saved some of the baking time by having Publix bake it!

  • Cookie Monster was made out of blueberries, his mouth made out of blackberries and eyes of vanilla yogurt with 2 blueberries.
  • Elmo was made of strawberries, his mouth of blackberries and eyes are the same as cookie monster’s.
  • Big Bird was made of cheese, his beak is crackers and eyes are made of a ranch dipping sauce with olives for eyeballs.
  • Oscar was made of broccoli, with olives for a mouth, carrots for eyebrows, and his eyes were the same as Big Bird’s!

Mr. Noodle’s Pasta salad was made using this Italian pasta salad recipe from Homemade Hooplah.

Balloon Arch

I created the arch using a balloon arch strip kit that had holes in it for the ties on the party balloons to fit into, so it made it super easy to attach the balloons. It also came with dot stickers to tape the balloons together. I’m sure I could have created more of an arch if I had some more string for the top, but I like how it turned out. I also used string and command hooks to hang the ends of the balloons.

Party Supplies

Most of the party supplies are from Party City in the Sesame Street section of the store. They also have most of the supplies on Amazon too!

Elmo Balloons

This Elmo Walking balloon was everything and it is still providing entertainment for Soleil! She loved that she could dance with and hold Elmo’s hand! We also got this Elmo Birthday balloon for an extra decoration.

Tableware

I found all of the plates, cups, napkins, utensils, and tablecloth at Party city as well, but I provided the links to the supplies on Amazon.

Additional supplies

The hanging honeycomb characters I found at Party City. I made the confetti on the table with my Cricut. Party City also had a party game called Pin the Party Hat on Elmo! You can also find it on Amazon. Additional party supplies: blowouts, party hats,

Shirts

I made these shirts for her party using my Cricut. Her shirt says two with the “o” replaced by Elmo’s face and ours have Cookie Monster’s and Elmo’s faces on them. Weston has a cute Cookie Monster bib that his grandma gave to him.

The back of Soleil’s shirt was the cutest! I made it custom with her name!

Her gift bags even had custom Sesame Street character faces on them!We had the best time at her party and she had sooo much fun too! Let me know if you have any questions on how to make or where to get any of these special party supplies!!
