Red Wine Poached Pears

I really wanted to use wine in one of my recipes and I was looking through a recipe book I have and found these Red Wine Poached Pears. They sound super fancy don’t they? Luckily they are easy to make.IMG_1793

A dry red wine like Merlot or Cabernet is best to use for this recipe. The leftover wine was VERY sweet, but reminded me of a mulled wine with the spices.

Putting it over vanilla ice cream would be the best choice. Adam and I were craving chocolate and cookies so we chose a chocolate cookie ice cream, which tasted really good with the leftover red wine sauce.
