Turkey plans

This weekend finally brought cooler weather. It is mid November and I am sick of the temps being in the 90s here in Florida. Not to sound like a pansy or anything, but yesterday we went scuba diving at Blue Grotto and we were all freezing. The water is always 72 degrees, but outside it was in the mid 50s. We wore wetsuits, but getting out of the water in between dives was cold! Otherwise it was a beautiful weekend and we got a great dive in!

With the weather being the way it is I really can’t believe that Thanksgiving is next week. I have been trying to convince myself of this by having a lot of fall meals consisting of butternut squash, pumpkin and other fall flavors, even in my morning protein smoothie! But when I start to sweat when stepping outside for 2 minutes I lose my holiday cheer.

My mom and I are planning Thanksgiving dinner. I am in charge of the pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce as always. I use the Libby pumpkin pie recipe and everyone seems to love it. Of course, I am also in charge of the wine! My favorite part. For the red wine I would suggest a Pinot Noir and for the white a Chardonnay or a Riesling. When my husband and I were on our honeymoon we went to Kelowna, Alberta in Canada. This is the Canadian wine country. I fell in love with The Quail’s Gate winery and they have an amazing dry Riesling. We bought about 6 bottles there! So we will be having a bottle of that for Thanksgiving dinner. I will share more of my Thanksgiving recipes in my post next week.
